Gridbox Intelligence
Project description
A small, fast game about clearing space
The Challenge
Most browser games ask for more attention than the break they are filling. A game you can play well in ninety seconds is a different design problem from a game with a campaign — it has to teach itself and end cleanly.
It has to be instant: no loading screen, no tutorial, no explanation beyond one line, and it has to run on whatever device opens it.
The Solution
A grid-arcade loop with the rule learned by consequence rather than instruction — harvest data chips, outsmart the grid. Difficulty ramps within a single run rather than across levels, so a session has a shape and a score has a meaning.

The hard part
Making the first thirty seconds teach the whole game without a tutorial. Every mechanic has to be legible the first time it happens, which constrains the mechanics as much as the presentation.
The Impact
Playable instantly in the browser, with the full loop and a difficulty curve contained in a single session.
